Will you help encourage and connect the church?
Give NowWill you help encourage and connect the church?
Give NowLast month Keith Stonehocker, our Chief Strategy Officer, wrote a column outlining Christianity Today's assorted efforts internationally. Keith's been a major driver in this area for over a decade; and he and I continue to brainstorm regularly about ways and means to faithfully and cost-effectively extend the reach of CT's content to pastors and church leaders around the world.
Well, it was not long after Keith wrote that last column that one of his long-time "international" dreams came closer to realization (not to mention closer to home!): A historic Letter of Understanding was signed between Christianity Today and the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC) to begin work on a Hispanic edition of Christianity Today!
Designed as a digital magazine to be launched in 2013, Cristianismo Hoy will be tailored for Hispanic pastors and church leaders. It will creatively provide this vibrant, growing demographic with the same thoughtful, theologically-tuned content that has typified our flagship's editorial quality for almost 60 years.
Of course, much remains to be done prior to Volume 1, Number 1, including hiring staff, designing the digital magazine and website, and raising launch monies to effectively position the publication for long-term success.
And it is to this end that both CT and the NHCLC have committed resources and dollars to what will be a three-year launch phase—after which, it is our hope that Cristianismo Hoy can become self-sustaining.
While we're confident that we can secure the $500K-plus needed for this initial launch phase, we are also looking to the CT family for help. Let me, therefore, encourage you as a faithful reader to take a few minutes and check out our ministry website at ChristianityToday.org to see how you can partner with us on this extraordinary opportunity.
Needless to say, expectations are now running very high as both sides work together to make this dream a reality. And it is with this in mind that I would encourage your prayers over the coming weeks and months. This is new territory for all of us, and we desperately need God's wisdom and direction as we move forward.
Be watching in the days ahead for updates on CH progress and on any new possibilities arising out of the CT-NHCLC partnership.
To God alone be the glory!
